What It Means To Build A Solid Foundation Of Faith

“Faith is something you keep growing in. Just because you have 'some' does not mean you ever get to stop working on getting more.” - Katrina McHyde. April 18, 2013

My 2013 self reminded me of this through an old facebook post. It reminds me that faith that is not exercised tends to get weaker instead of stronger, just like not exercising your mind or your body. Building faith must always be tended to, and unfortunately, it is mostly built by facing areas that you want to give up on instead of pushing into. And if you ‘lose’ your faith, losing it was a gift given to you so that you can start rebuilding and seeing if you can do better at building on a Rock of belief and understanding that cannot be moved for you, instead of on sand where your faith fell apart.

My fellow human, I have compassion for all of us who don’t give up and keep on building again and again, learning how to build better as we grow.

Allow me to share two Scriptures to encourage you on to good works.

(Jesus speaking) Luke 6:

46 “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? 47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

(Paul speaking) 1 Corinthians 3:

10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— 13 each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

What the foundation truly is…

Our foundation is what The Messenger, Jesus Christ/Yeshua ha’Messiach, told us to do. What is that message? May I repeat this so many times in everything I share that you can easily answer that question without hesitation?

The answer is to love God with everything you have and love your neighbor AS yourself.

Focus on loving all three areas all the time for the love of God because God loved you first and never ever stopped!. THAT is the foundation that cannot be shaken! (Matthew 24:36-40, 1 John 4:19-21)

Hey now! Go back and look those two scriptures up. It will exercise your faith and understanding so that you can withstand those spiritual and emotional storms I promise you have yet to endure. You are welcome. Mwah! All silliness aside, I love you my fellow human. God won’t EVER give up on you so NEVER give up on God finishing the work He has started in you! Just keep practicing on building. The Lord surely will help you learn to build well!
